This is a telephone health advice and information service that can be accessed 24 hours a day.

PLEASE NOTE:  When collecting your repeat prescription from the surgery you will be asked to confirm your name, address and date of birth.  The purpose of this is to enhance security and to minimise the chances of errors being made when prescriptions are being given to patients.  We would appreciate your co-operation and understanding in this regard.

APPOINTMENTS/PRESCRIPTIONS:  You can now use this website to cancel an appointment, to provide us with information regarding a change in your address or telephone number, or to order a repeat prescription.  This can be done by clicking on the appropriate link shown on the left hand side of our home page.

The Practice telephone system provides an automated service for requesting repeat prescriptions and cancelling appointments.  This service can be accessed whenever the surgery is closed – between 12.30pm and 2.00pm or between 5.30pm and 8.30am Monday to Friday, or at any time from 5.30pm on a Friday until 8.30am on a Monday.  These services can be accessed by telephoning 08444 997 055 and following the instructions given by the automated service.

MOBILE TELEPHONE NUMBERS:  The practice, in an effort to reduce DNA's and increase clinic attendances, has signed up for provision of a service called mJOG.  This service works in conjunction with patient mobile numbers, and if we have a record of your mobile number and you make an appointment you will receive a text 24 hours prior to your appointment reminding you of this.  Patients can also text back cancelling their appointment if they no longer require this.  The Practice may also use this service in the future to invite patients to the surgery for chronic disease clinics, or for health promotion related issues, e.g. ‘Flu Campaign.

As patients we need your help to ensure this service works efficiently and accurately, and would ask you to provide the Receptionist with your mobile number if you have not already done so.  Similarly, if you change your number please inform the surgery as soon as possible.

COMMUNICATE BY EMAIL:  If you would like to receive information from the Practice by email, for example the quarterly Practice Newsletter and details of events and clinics being run, please give your email address to the Receptionist and she will record this information in your contact details and this information will also be added to our mailing list for future information to be sent to you electronically.  Alternatively, please email michelle.kay@aapct.scot.nhs.uk and Michelle will add your email address to the Practice mailing list.  Please note that only general information for public knowledge will be sent in this way.

PATIENT FOCUS GROUP:  The next meeting of the Patient Focus Group will be held at Mauchline Surgery in September 2013.  The date will be formalised nearer the time.  This Group is made up of patients who help us to analyse information provided by other patients in an effort to enable us to continue to provide a high standard of care to our patients, and to improve the areas identified by patients as requiring our attention.  The Patient Focus Group gives the Practice an opportunity to update patients on any forthcoming developments within the practice and gives us the chance to report on the outcome of these.  There is staff representation from each discipline within the Practice in attendance at every meeting to help answer any questions raised.

WE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING TO INCREASE MEMBERSHIP OF OUR PATIENT FOCUS GROUP, AND WOULD BE DELIGHTED TO SEE ANY PATIENT WHO IS REGISTERED WITH THE PRACTICE AT THESE MEETINGS.

CLINIC APPOINTMENTS:  The Practice is in the process of introducing a new system in an attempt to reduce the number of patients who do not attend for appointments.  Any patient being sent an appointment to attend a clinic will be asked to confirm that they are going to attend this appointment, and if they have not confirmed their attendance 48 hours before the appointment date then their appointment will be cancelled and utilised by another patient.  It is hoped that this will lead to more effective use of appointments.  Therefore, if you do receive an appointment to attend a clinic, PLEASE REMEMBER TO TELEPHONE US AT LEAST 48 HOURS PRIOR TO THE APPOINTMENT TO CONFIRM YOU PLAN TO ATTEND.
