GP Practices in Ayrshire and Arran are changing to help you get the right care and advice when you need it.
In addition to the staff you may currently see within your practice, there will be a range of new roles which may include an advanced physiotherapist or practice support pharmacist.
Over the coming year, these professionals will be based in or aligned to your GP practice. Your GP practice may also direct you to your local Pharmacist, Dentist or Optician. This may mean that you will not always see your GP.
You may have noticed that some of these changes are already happening in your GP Practice, with the new staff in place offering specialist appointments to patients who are benefiting from accessing these services.
These changes are all being introduced with the patient in mind at all times to ensure you see the right person, at the right time, in the right place.
When you call the practice the practice administrator (receptionist) may ask you some questions about your symptoms to find out who the right professional is to help you. This is a key part to the practice administrators role. They are trained to signpost you to the most appropriate person or service. Any information you share with the practice administrator will be treated with confidentiality.
